Shiplap wall

There are quite a few tutorials on Pinterest on how to create your own Shiplap wall. But in case you haven't seen one and are wanting to tackle the project your self, i'm here to show you how!

It actually is really a pretty easy project as long as you have the right tools. For this project you will need the following:

~ Wood
~Brad nailer
~ Nails
~ Miter saw or a circular saw would work as well
~ Wood filler
~ Paint

1st thing you'll need to do is measure your wall so you can figure out how much wood you'll need. As far as what kind of wood you'll need, its really all personal preference. I've seen it done with a couple different kinds and they all turn out great! Plywood is always a good option and the nice thing about that is, it doesn't cost a lot, about $14 a sheet. Once you have it measured head to your local hardware store. grab the amount of sheets you'll need and one thing I always do, is have them cut the wood for me. It saves SO much time! I had them cut my wood in 6" strips, like shown below

Next thing you'll do is nail it up on the wall. You will want to put spacers in between each board and here we used pennies. I've also seen it done with tile spacers or nickels. Just use what will work best for you! Its also hard to see, but we did mark where our studs were so that we knew the nail was going into the stud.

Lastly, fill in your holes and paint and you will have created a beautiful wall for your home!

Now to decide what to hang above the bed!
